Post-Doc / scientist position - vTI Institute for Agricultural Climate Research

The vTI Institute for Agricultural Climate Research (www.vti.bund.de), group on emission inventories, offers a

Post-Doc / scientist position

at Braunschweig, Germany, limited until 31st of December, 2013, starting at earliest convenience

The position is linked to the European research project NitroEurope-IP (www.nitroeurope.eu).

Tasks:

  • Technical improvement of an eddy covariance system for total reactive atmospheric nitrogen fluxes and operation of the system for long-term measurements above agro-ecosystems
  • Development of data processing routines and calculation of the reactive nitrogen exchange from measurements performed in the past years
  • Development of mobile micrometeorological systems for the simultaneous measurement of NH3, NO and total reactive nitrogen
  • Organisation and participation in measurement campaigns at emission hotspots (animal houses, biogas plants, entire farm systems) for the verification of emission factors
  • Scientific publications

Requirements:

  • PhD in meteorology or physics, best with focus on micrometeorology or tropospheric chemistry
  • Proven experience in scientific research, best with eddy covariance measurements and laser technology
  • Proven skills in the technical development of measurement systems for field application
  • Experience in data processing
  • Ability for field work
  • Training in a programming language (Fortran, C++,…)
